I've been sailing on the Mary Day since 2002. This year will be my 7th trip, and it too will leave a "mark upon my heart" just like the others. I try to explain to "outsiders" that this is not an ordinary vacation; it is a pilgrimage.<BR/><BR/>The definition of the word lagniappe is a small gift given a customer by a merchant at the time of a purchase; or something given or obtained gratuitously or by way of good measure. <BR/><BR/>This describes beautifully the many gifts that we take home with us after a trip on board the beautiful Mary Day, as well as the ones we leave behind.<BR/><BR/>Here's to our beautiful Mary Day! Just as I'm sure not all the marks left by passengers are physical. I do know this, every trip I've made on the Mary Day has left a mark upon my heart, in my brain, and upon my outlook in life. I will never get over the serendipity of going on a sailing cruise in 2005 and finding so much more than that.<BR/><BR/>In the south we have a word for that little something extra that makes life special. That word is lagnappe (pronounced lan-yap). With each trip aboard the Mary Day I come away with another lagnappe that stays with me all through the year. From the photos I'd say you're doing a splendid job. We had some painters in to do work this past week and I can only say that I wish they were half as meticulous as your team.
